Legal matters for entrepreneurs: Is your business legally sound?

The legal matters for entrepreneurs to consider are incredibly diverse. Running a business involves a wide range of rules and obligations. Think of drafting legally correct contracts, choosing the right legal form, or preventing liability issues, such as when a supplier fails to deliver. We can help you determine, for example, whether a BV (limited company) or a VOF (general partnership) is the best option for your specific situation.

Many business owners only take action when it’s too late. For instance, when a conflict has already arisen or something else goes wrong. You can prevent many issues with sound advice and clear agreements. Well-drafted contracts, the correct legal structure, and transparent arrangements help you avoid future headaches.

Stichting Ondernemersklankbord (OKB), also known as the Entrepreneurs Soundboard, helps you identify and mitigate these risks. Together with an independent, experienced OKB advisor from your region, you will map out the bottlenecks and determine the steps needed to organize your company legally.

Which legal matters often play a role?

Sooner or later, every business owner faces legal questions. Perhaps you are doubting your choice of legal structure or want to know the extent of your personal liability. You sign contracts with customers, suppliers, or partners, but are they legally solid enough? With the help of an experienced OKB advisor, you’ll quickly know where you stand regarding these legal matters for entrepreneurs.

Topics such as privacy legislation (GDPR), intellectual property, and general terms and conditions also play a major role. We are happy to brainstorm with you on how to apply GDPR regulations correctly within your business, or within a company you are looking to acquire. Especially during growth or a takeover, many things change. How do you safeguard the rights and obligations of everyone involved?

It’s important to understand which documents you need, when you are at risk, and how to limit that risk. Our volunteer advisors help you with these legal matters without using complicated jargon.

Support during conflicts or uncertainty

Sometimes conflicts arise with customers, employees, or suppliers. An invoice is paid late, a partnership doesn’t go as planned, or there is confusion over agreements. This causes stress and can cost a lot of time and money.

An advisor from the Entrepreneurs Soundboard helps you look at the situation calmly. What has been officially recorded, what are your rights, and how can you resolve it without unnecessary escalation? This often leads to a quick and pragmatic solution to a legal issue.

Our advisors are former entrepreneurs or industry specialists, such as lawyers, directors, or accountants, who volunteer their time to provide independent support.

Legal preparation for business transfers

When transferring or selling your business, legal documentation is paramount. Think of transfer contracts, ownership structures, employee obligations, or agreements regarding intellectual property.

OKB helps you identify these issues in time. This prevents surprises and makes sure your business transfer proceeds smoothly from a legal perspective. You can get help from our advisors to create a roadmap or gain specialist advice through our network of external partners.

What are the costs?

A soundboard trajectory costs a one-time contribution of €200,-. This applies whether you use the full six months of guidance or only require support for three months. If you need more time at the end of the trajectory, you can simply start a new one for an additional €200,-. For this contribution, you receive personal guidance from a dedicated OKB advisor who understands both entrepreneurship and legal matters.

Together, you will create an overview of your legal situation, discuss potential risks, and receive practical tips to address them. No standard forms, but tailor-made guidance focused on your company.
