After taking over their family business, PJP Film & Studio, brothers Jeroen and Bram Joosten sought more structure and stability. Thanks to the guidance of OKB advisor Piet Fleuren, they managed to gain control over their finances, calculate their projects more effectively, and grow their business in a healthy way.

From creative craftsmanship to financial insight

PJP Film & Studio, based in Kessel (Limburg), specializes in video production. “We sometimes call ourselves Hilversum on the Maas,” says Jeroen with a smile. Yet entrepreneurship after the 2015 takeover was no easy task. “We were struggling. That’s when we turned to OKB to get our business moving again.”

Business coach Piet Fleuren helped them shift from creative craftsmanship to entrepreneurial awareness. “Jeroen is technically and creatively strong, but being creative doesn’t automatically make you a good entrepreneur,” Piet explains. “He underestimated projects or spent too many hours on them without profit.”

An important part of the program was learning how to estimate, budget, and evaluate costs. “We started with the basics: what do you include in your pricing? How do you manage by numbers? Think depreciation, overhead, and margins,” Piet explains. “Without control over your finances, you can’t manage a business in a healthy way.”

The collaboration worked especially well thanks to a regional connection. “An advisor from the Randstad probably wouldn’t have understood our Limburg mindset,” says Jeroen. “Piet speaks our language. That allowed for open conversations that truly made an impact.”
